Three Injured in Road Rage Stabbing

Two men and one woman were sent to hospital for treatment after one of the men went berserk with a knife during a road rage incident in Taipei City’s Xinyi District this morning, June 13.

The driver of an Infiniti, 61 year-old Mr Ren, entered Zhongpo Road from a side-street, forcing 45 year-old Mr Zhou, who was driving a Mercedes Benz, to change lanes to avoid a collision.

The two drivers stopped next to each other at a red light at the next intersection where Zhou wound down his window and told Ren that his way of driving was dangerous. Ren denied that he drove dangerously and an argument ensued.

The situation escalated when the light turned green, and the men pulled over and got out of their cars to continue the argument. Then, an enraged Mr Zhou returned to his car and pulled out a watermelon knife. Zhou stabbed Ren in the thigh, back, and abdomen as the two men grappled.

Zhou’s wife was cut on the leg when she intervened and tried to dissuade her husband.

Police officers passing by on patrol intervened and stopped the fight.

All three were sent to hospital for further treatment after receiving first aid at the scene. Mr Zhou was treated for a nose injury.
