Taiwan Rapper’s American Visa Canceled

Taiwan rapper Doggie G (aka Dwagie), was disappointed to find his American visa canceled shortly before he was due to perform at a music festival in Texas.

After an interview yesterday at the USA’s defacto embassy, the American Institute in Taiwan, Tseng Kuan-jung (曾冠榕) said he will definitely miss his favorite Texan music festival this year.

The popular Taiwanese rapper held a visa valid until September 2017, but it was suddenly canceled without warning. AIT officials today told him they couldn’t change the decision.

The singer is out of pocket for travel expenses including flights and accommodation to the tune of several thousand US dollars.

The visa cancellation comes a couple of months after the rapper released a song and music video “Words to Trump” featuring American rapper Raekwon.

When asked if he thought the visa cancellation was related to his Words to Trump, the rapper said it’s unlikely. He is just a little person, and they probably thought he was going to America to make money, when he is actually going there to make a cultural exchange.

He will next apply for an O Visa for those “who possesses extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics, or who has a demonstrated record of extraordinary achievement in the motion picture or television industry and has been recognized nationally or internationally for those achievements,”
