First tuna of the season a record-breaker at 320kg

The first tuna of the 2023 season at the Port of Su’ao weighed in at 320 kilograms, breaking an all time record for first catch of the year, and a 10-year seasonal record. Northeast tuna season opens with first bluefin sold for more than NT$1.8 million

The first Pacific bluefin tuna caught off Taiwan’s northeast coast this year sold at auction for a total price of NT$1,897,000 million at Nanfang Harbor, Port of Su’ao, in Yilan County this morning, April 21. Greenpeace Releases Scathing Report on Taiwan

A comprehensive report on Taiwan’s fishing industry was released by Greenpeace International, Thursday April 14, which accuses the country’s government of failing to take responsibility for the actions of of its fishing fleet in global waters; and warns of damage to the Made in Taiwan brand. Big Amphetamine bust at Kaohsiung Harbour

A huge haul of amphetamine was found in a in a refrigerated container at a wharf in Kaohsiung yesterday. 138 kilograms of the drug was concealed in the bellies of frozen tuna headed for Japan.
