A Police SWAT team swooped on a property in Miaoli County yesterday and arrested Snake Alley gangster Jiang Liren(姜禮仁). Jiang had been on the run for over one year after failing to show up to serve an 11 year prison sentence. Sub-Machine Gun and Grenade Found in Arrested Gangster’s Arsenal

Police discovered what they called “a small arsenal” of weapons after arresting a gangster wanted in relation to a kidnapping for ransom case. The haul included a sub-machine gun and a grenade. Emergency Power Restoration too Slow: Electrical Workers Beaten by Thugs

Two employees of Taipower undertaking repairs to the power grid in Yunlin County in the wake of Typhoon Soudelor, were beaten up by a group of thugs wielding baseball bats, who hit the men and smashed a window of their truck. The men were led by former township chairman and husband of the current legislative yuan representative, who is one of three men charged with several offences after the incident. Gangsters Arrested in Wanhua District

Wanhua district in New Taipei City is a famous gangster haven in Taiwan, and even featured in the movie Bangka. This morning several thugs, including their gang leader were arrested after being caught on camera causing havoc, and violently intimidating a business proprietor over failure to pay protection money. The gang is estimated to have earned up to NT$10 million in the scheme over the last couple of years.
