Murder Suspect Requests Quick Execution

A man arrested after 19 days on the run requested prosecutors have him executed as quickly as possible for having accidentally killed his own niece last month.

On October 16, in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Wang, 60, was drunk and had an argument with one of his nieces about her noisy children. When another niece attempted to mediate, Wang shot her in the back. The bullet went through the 41 year-old woman’s heart and killed her. Wang then fled the scene of the killing.

Police traced the suspect to his son’s rental office in Taichung City. November 3, around 20 police officers surrounded the building and raided when the son arrived with groceries. The police officers found Wang hiding behind a door. Upon discovery, the suspect fell to the ground and cried “my physical condition is poor!” The officers confiscated a handgun and 14 rounds of ammunition.

A woman named Wang, who was shot dead by her uncle October 16.

Wang, who has prior criminal records for guns, drugs, theft, and other offences, told police and prosecutors that he had fled because he was at an advanced age and had heart problems. Wang believed that if he received a prison sentence that he may not survive it.

The remorseful killer said that he had normally gotten on well with his niece. He said he had only waved the gun around to frighten the women and had accidentally pulled the trigger. He requested the prosecution have him speedily executed. “I hope you can bang me out in 5 days,” he said.

Prosecutors charged Wang with murder and weapons offences, while his son was charged for abetting a fugitive.
