Ministry of Education Website Hacked

Taiwan’s Ministry of Education website is unavailable at the time of writing due to a hack by a group calling themselves ‘Anonymous Asia’. The English language version residing on the subdomain http://english.moe.gov.tw/ appears to be operating as normal.

The ministry’s information division has stated that the hacks began Friday July 31, with another wave of attacks on August 1.

Anonymous’ Asia division posted the website on their facebook page with the designation ‘Target’. One member, Anonymous31 stated (translated from Chinese) “It is time to stand up and guard Taiwan, guard our children, fine-tuning is the beginning of brainwashing education today, Taiwan today, Hong Kong tomorrow, defending their own national culture…”
