Canadian Dies in Motorcycle Accident: Czech Passenger Injured

A Canadian man was pronounced dead at Saint Mark’s Hospital, February 24, after a scooter accident in Chuchi(Jhuci) township, Chiayi County. A female Czech national passenger was injured, but conscious, after the motorcycle left the road and plunged into a rice paddy.
According to United Daily News, the deceased was identified as a 23 year-old student attending National Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, with the Chinese name 杜蘭佛. The 20 year-old passenger suffered cuts and bruises and is described as not seriously injured.
The United Daily News report described the location of the accident as “quite remote” and unlit. The accident happened at around 6:00pm. The students were riding a rented motorcycle.

My son Patrick Dupuis -Dufresne was 22 years old. The passenger is in critical condition in a coma at the hospital. We , Patrick’s parents have been given the exact news by his classmates in Taipei.
The Canadian, Quebec police told us on the 24th that it was a car crash.
The Canadian, Ottawa consulate have difficulties getting the correct information.
The Taiwan police now want an autopsy on Patrick’s body and we his parents are waiting for the Canadian government to make it safe to go there and return if charges are somehow pinned on our son. We want to bring him home.
The Polyteque University of Montreal have steered us to the Ottawa consulate but the consulate are misinformed or not informed.
