Armed Robber Taken Down by Post Office Customers

A woman armed with a knife grabbed another woman as hostage and threatened to harm her if staff didn’t hand over the cash at a post office in Hsintien, New Taipei City, today.

Post office staff complied and put NT$170,000 into a paper bag. Before the would-be robber could take the cash, however, members of the public surrounded her and overpowered the woman.

Ms Zheng (鄭), 57, entered the post office on Anming (安民) Street at around 11:35am this morning wearing a black stocking over her head.

Zheng was treated for a cut on her left arm and a suspected broken finger after her arrest.
