Air-force Personnel Test Positive for Drugs

Up to ten air-force personnel at a base in Taichung have returned positive reactions for drugs, after urine tests were ordered for all troops stationed on base yesterday.

The drug tests were ordered after 27 packs of white powder were found discarded on the Ching Chuan Kang Air Base, along with a device for smoking drugs. Apple Daily reported that “nearly 10” officers and men have returned positive reactions for drugs.

Taichung District prosecutor’s Office is investigating the case. Investigators are examining CCTV footage around the location the drugs were found, and are checking whether any personnel on the base have criminal records involving drugs.

The Defense Ministry has promised that all suspects will be investigated and punished severely if found guilty, no matter what status and rank.
