Chiayi County: A coach carrying 40 passengers slammed into the back of another coach in a tunnel on National Highway 3, resulting in 31 injured, 8:00am, October 6, 2016. The rear-ended coach was not carrying any passengers at the time.

The injured passengers were part of a group of temple volunteers from Taichung on an outing to visit a recreation area in Chiayi County. The most seriously injured was a 61 year-old man who had to be cut out of the wreck by firefighters and suffered injuries to his lower legs.

This coach accident comes just one day after another accident involving a coach in the same county. Fifteen people were injured yesterday, when a coach slammed into cars on the national highway.
