1 Dead, 6 Injured After Truck Plows into Cars

Update: 3:17pm: 2 dead, 3 injured

One person died and four were hospitalized after a truck plowed into cars on the National Highway in Tainan this morning.

Tainan City Fire Bureau received a report of the accident at 7:56am. Six ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the crash.

Highway Police said the deceased, a driver named Lin, died at the scene due to severe head injuries. Three males and one female were rushed to hospital with two described as seriously injured and unconscious.

Update: One of the seriously injured, a woman named Wu, later died in hospital.

One person was trapped in the mangled wreck of a vehicle for 30 minutes.

Two other people were lightly injured but declined further treatment after receiving first aid.

A total of five vehicles were involved in the accident, including the truck, which flipped onto its side after hitting the cars.

The driver said he was changing lanes to exit the freeway and didn’t see clearly.
